A plan is in
hand to establish the first of a series of
houses in England and Wales to provide
accommodation and rehabilitation for women
supported by The Sozo Women's Resettlement
Project. The first
six-bed home will be within the
Gloucestershire area for women in the
greatest need. Our objective is to help them
make safe and appropriate choices and learn
the skills that will enable them to cope
within the community. Each one will also be
encouraged in building confidence and
self-esteem to achieve ambitions and dreams
previously considered out of reach.

REHABILITATION AND INTEGRATION
The Cedar House programme will offer a 6-24
month intensive rehabilitation and
reintegration scheme designed to meet
individual needs and situations. A team of
trained staff, volunteers and professionals
will work with the women, and with
community-based services, including health
and welfare professionals, churches and
probation and social service teams, focusing
on individual goal-related care plans aimed
at achieving an outcome of an independent,
self-supporting and fulfilling life. The
programme will have a holistic approach to
include core units that enable the women to
gain self-reliance in daily living skills
and promote their emotional, social and
spiritual well being.
Towards the end of the programme the women
will be guided and assisted in moving back
into the community while project support is
gradually reduced to be replaced by
community-based assistance where needed.

LOOKING AHEAD
The first Cedar House will be a pilot for a
series of at least four others in selected
UK locations in the years ahead as funds
become available. A fundraising programme
has been launched and donations are
welcomed, however large or small, to reach
our target of £1 million to purchase a
suitable property and meet the costs of
furnishing, decorating, repairs and initial
staffing.
Please keep The Sozo Women's Resettlement
Project and the vision
of Cedar House in your prayers.
